Memoir Writing:

Memoir Writing can be an extremely rewarding experience. It is a powerful tool of telling your own story in your own words.  Benefits of memoir writing include preserving our legacies for our families, giving us a sense of purpose, keeping our brains stimulated, providing insight to our lives, and inspiring others.

Throughout the year, JVSO offers memoir writing opportunities for members to learn, write, and share with others in the group if they so desire.

It’s also a wonderful way to discover your creativity and make new friends.

The Pandemic and Me

Everyone's experience with the Pandemic is individualized.  Over three consecutive Mondays, members will discover how to write a meaningful memoir about these personal times that will go beyond just retelling a story.  Give a voice to your journey through the pandemic that is uniquely yours. When put in writing these memories, are there for generations to come.

Barbara Swenson, JVSO member and retired Reading/Writing Teacher within the Cy-Fair School District, will be facilitating these sessions.  Barbara brings her experience and thought-provoking methods to bring out the writers in all of us.

Dates: Jan. 25, Feb. 1, and Feb 8 at 10:30 pm via zoom
